Another choice
Would you like to use real nappies but don't have the time or don't have the facilities to wash & dry at home? Then a nappy laundry service could be the answer.
Used nappies are collected weekly from your doorstep at the same time as a supply of clean cloth nappies are delivered.
Paying by standing order means you don't need to be home at delivery/ collection time.
No more time-consuming shopping for bulky packs of disposables.
How does it work?
When a nappy is changed the wet nappy is stored in a lined, deodorised bin with a secure lid. The bin is collected weekly from your doorstep at the same time as a supply of clean cloth nappies are delivered. There is no need to be in at the time of the collection/ delivery.
You will receive a supply of enough clean pre-fold style nappies for one week. You will normally need to hire or buy the waterproof wraps. All nappies are laundered to the same standard used in hospitals.
What's the cost?
After an initial joining fee a service will cost about £6 to £11 per week - comparable to the cost of using disposables. Reductions are usually available for a second child at the same address. Prices are likely to come down as these services become more popular.
Real confidence
Look out for PAS106. The Real Nappy Campaign has funded a new British Standards Institute specification for laundry services.
Help the environment
You can cut your household rubbish by up to a half and help reduce the amount of rubbish going to landfill by using real nappies.
